It is very easy to quit smoking. Well, "I quit 200 times," Mark Twain said. And anybody who is used to taking his daily fix of nicotine is going to tell you exactly how difficult it is to quit smoking.

One of them involves chewing nicotine gum so that the body auto suggests to itself that it is getting its daily dose of nicotine. Actually, people cannot quit smoking because their body's physiological and chemical functioning has been changed due to the nicotine intake. It is almost like caffeine intake.

So if you do not have nicotine coming into your body regularly, your brain is going to start sending out distress signals. The brain thinks that it is not going to function properly without nicotine. This is the reason why many people cannot quit smoking. In the same manner, many people are afraid to quit smoking, because they are terrified by the withdrawal symptoms.

So, it is very rare for a person who has the strength of mind, the willpower and the dedication to stop smoking to do it without nicotine replacements.
